Faded Glory: How Broadcast Networks Trivialize Patriotism

Networks’ View of Palin: Dunce or Demon
A
new CMI study reveals that broadcast networks aired 18 negative
stories for every positive story on Sarah Palin during a two-week
period before and after the vice presidential debate. Subsequently,
Palin’s “unfavorable” ratings shot up 17 percent in one month. The
report, A Study in Character Assassination: How the TV Networks Have
Portrayed Sarah Palin as Dunce or Demon, by CMI Senior Editor Brian
Fitzpatrick and CMI Research Assistant Colleen Raezler, finds the
networks promoting three distinct and false storylines about Palin:
She’s unqualified and unintelligent, conservatives reject her, and
she’s simply McCain’s attack dog.
